Many others on deerhardware have said their rack scuffed and scraped and started to lose colouring as they mounted it, but I've had none of those issues. None of the finish has rubbed off anywhere and it didn't scratch while installing.
The included mounting template is WAY off, Do not use it! Be sure to measure the width of the rack as well as the distance between the holes, etc. Ensure a level is used, as the mounting holes are very precise.
Like the Umbra Magnetter Wall-Mount Organizer, the mounting screws need to be VERY close to the wall in order for this thing to not budge after installation. Also, I'm not sure if it was my wall, or the rack itself, but it wasn't perfectly flat. The two ends seemed to curve away from the centre of the board. So make sure you take that into account while mounting. When it's on the wall, you can't tell, but there is a slight outward bend in the entire board.
Mount the Centre hole first, and adjust your screws to accommodate the outer holes.
If you mount this in drywall, as most will, use Drywall Anchors (included). This rack has no problem holding 8 heavy winter jackets, and the hooks return snugly into the base without feeling loose or dangling.
